Release Notes - Version 3.4 (Preview)

The 3.4 release features a major overhaul of the user interface. The dashboard has been adjusted to present more relevent information more quickly and be more intuitive. On the dashboard side, an emphasis has been placed on eliminating as many "Next", "Edit" and "Done" buttons as possible to minimize extra clicks. Both the Dashboard and Administrative interfaces feature a new tree based layout of projects and processes to allow for easier grouping.

A complete list of new features, improvements and bug fixes will be available with the full release. A few key areas of improvement are highlighted below. This release is meant only as a preview and has a couple of features temporarily disabled. Project import /export, and build archiving are the most obvious examples.

Job and Workflow Libraries

Jobs and workflow definitions can now be extracted from projects. A single configuration of a job or workflow definition can then be used by any number of projects. For teams looking to enforce a single build methodology this should be very helpful. Change a job in one place, and all your projects will be effected.

Maven2 Extensions

AnthillPro 3.4 offers a patch to Maven2 that redirects dependency resolution to CodeStation. This supports traceability from Anthill while still using Maven as before. Any dependencies that AnthillPro can't resolve on its own, it will then query a list of Maven repositories for.

Consolidated Life-Cycle Model

AnthillPro 3.4 introduces Life-Cycle Models, which unite the existing AnthillPro concepts and strategies of statuses, stamps, and cleanup, into a single library. The Life-Cycle Model allows you to select a pre-configured set during project configuration, speeding up the process. Life-Cycle Models also enable Job Libraries, where the steps available to a job depend upon the Life-Cycle Model's source-repository type. On migration, AnthillPro will create Life-Cycle Models for your existing projects.

System Tray Monitor

The new system tray monitor gives you the option of a customized view into AnthillPro. The monitor (available on the Developer's Tool page by following the Tools link at the top of your browser window) can be installed on the individual work station and then customized to give you information about specific projects.

Guest User Account

With AnthillPro 3.4, it is now possible to setup a Guest User account. This account allows for view-only access, and is enabled on the Server Settings tab. Once enabled, the Guest User account is administered by following the Security link and selecting the 'System' Authentication Realm.

Priority Workflows

Mission critical workflows can be given priority. When these workflows are run, any other jobs that compete for resources with them will be suspended, the priority workflow will run, then the suspended jobs will resume.
