Extending Continuous Integration into ALM

Urbancode's President and co-found, Maciej Zawadzki, has published an article on extending the ideals of Continuous Integration further down the lifecycle into longer running tests that don't fit into a traditional, short, CI build. The article appears in the latest Doctor Dobb's Journal.

Strategies for incorporating slow tests into the process are reviewed. The pros and cons of staged builds, chained processes, and release pipelines are looked at one by one.  For most teams, release pipelines are the best choice. Using these strategies, QA and release management teams can get the same kinds of benifits that only development teams had been getting out of CI.
